My name is Brittney Baker, and I am a dedicated wife and mother of three. I began my professional journey in 2012 by enrolling in the St. Paul EMS Academy. Upon graduating, I served in the BLS transport unit of the Fire Department. Since 2013, I have been involved in instructing at the EMS Academy in various capacities. I completed Paramedic school in 2015 and graduated from the Fire Academy in 2018. I was promoted to driver in 2023 and to Captain in 2024.
Currently, I teach EMT, Paramedic, Fire, and various levels of CPR classes for both the community and a local college. In 2018, I joined Firefighters United, motivated by my commitment to the International of Black Professional Firefighters' motto: “All that I am, I owe. I live eternally in the red.” As a product of St. Paul's historic Rondo neighborhood, I am passionate about giving back to the community that has provided me with numerous opportunities.
I am Malik Davis, born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. I graduated from Saint Agnes High School and Clark Atlanta University, where I earned a degree in Business Administration and Business Management. With 15+ years of experience in property management, I transitioned into a successful career as a real estate agent and investor. I have been a St. Paul firefighter since 2019. I am a dedicated father to a 13-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son and have been married to my wife for 16 years. I coached high school basketball at St. Paul Central for 21 years before retiring and now coach 10u boys' tackle football. Outside of work, I enjoy nature, relaxing on the beach, and spending time with family. I joined FFU to continue the legacy of those who fought for me to not only be in the job but to be treated with respect or held accountable. Giving back means the world to me so to be able to help with community events or recruitment is a priority for me.
I am Christyn Lewis and I am a Firefighter Paramedic for the Saint Paul Fire Department and the lead instructor for the department’s EMS Academy, a program designed to offer local low-income students the chance to obtain their EMT certification at no cost. I attended the EMS Academy in 2012 and began working for the basic life support transport ambulance following that. After graduating Paramedic School at UCLA I returned to be hired as a Firefighter in 2019. I joined Fire Fighters United (FFU) in 2019 due to its commitment to providing mentorship and equitable opportunities for Black firefighters, while also strengthening ties between the department and the community. As the FFU treasurer since 2023, I manage the organization's finances and support its mission of diversity, inclusion, and community outreach.
My name is Dorwen Bishop, and I immigrated to the United States in the late 1990s from Georgetown, Guyana. I grew up in the Summit-University area of Saint Paul. I graduated from Saint Paul Central High School in 2012 and subsequently enrolled in the Ems Academy shortly thereafter to pursue my EMT certification. Upon completing the program in 2013, I chose to remain with the academy, working in their BLS division while attending paramedic school and training to become a firefighter in Saint Paul. I successfully graduated from both paramedic school and the fire academy in 2015.
In April 2025, I will celebrate my tenth anniversary with the department, with 8.5 years spent as a firefighter/paramedic and the remainder as a Fire Equipment Operator/Paramedic. I joined Firefighters United because I wanted to engage more deeply with the community, an area where I felt our department could improve. I am proud that we have significantly enhanced our partnerships with various organizations over the past six years, participating in food drives, toy drives, back-to-school initiatives, and more. I believe it is vital for us to maintain a visible presence in the communities we serve, and joining Firefighters United has enabled me to contribute to this important mission.
My name is Savonarei (Ree), and I serve as a Firefighter Paramedic as well as an instructor for the EMS Academy. I have been a member of Firefighters United since 2020, having entered the firefighting profession through the Fire Department pathways program. I chose to join Firefighters United (FFU) because its values resonate with my own, and I appreciate the ongoing community engagement opportunities it provides. My involvement with Firefighters United has not only broadened my horizons but has also encouraged me to pursue various opportunities both as an individual and as a firefighter
